| Brent: The earliest recorded patriarchal blessings
of Brent's direct-line ancestors are of Vinson Knight and his wife Martha
McBride, who received theirs under the hands of Joseph Smith, Sr., on 24 Jun
1835 in Kirtland, Ohio. Patriarchal
blessings included here were received under the hands of the first two
presiding patriarchs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints--Joseph Smith, Sr. and Hyrum Smith--and four of the first five
presiding patriarchs of the Church.
Two of Brent's direct-line ancestors, third great grandfathers, were
ordained as patriarchs: Emer Harris
and John Hastings, Sr. Another
relative, Thomas Arthur Gladman Shreeve--husband of Mary (Maria) Wilhelmina
Bluth (older sister of great grandmother Anna Constantia Bluth)--was also an
ordained patriarch. Over thirty of
Brent's direct-line ancestors are known to have received patriarchal
blessings. At least six direct-line
ancestors received a second patriarchal blessing, three of whom (Anna
Constantia Bluth, Louisa Sargent, and Martha McBride) received rarely given
third blessings. All lineage
declarations of direct-line ancestors are of the Tribe of Ephraim, with the
following exceptions: Vinson Knight
("seed of Israel), Martha McBride ("descendant of Joseph"),
Emer Harris ("house of Jacob"), James Gale ("house of
Israel"), John Hastings, Sr. ("Joseph"), Robert Erwin Baird
("Blood lineage and Tribe of Simeon"), Abigail Mead ("lineage
of Abraham"), Zachariah Wise Derrick ("house of Joseph"), Mary
Shepherd ("Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in common with your
companion"). |
